Shishu Prokash (Sherpur): The students of the Kusumhati Govt Primary School in Sherpur enjoyed a special day on February 2, 2010. The Grameen Shikkha organised the ‘Shishubaran Anusthan’ (reception to the children) for the fresh students of Class-I of the school. At least 500 students studying in Class-I and pre-school classes attended the rally. In the function they expressed the commitment of building their lives through different slogans. After the rally every student was presented with a packet of biscuits.
After that the special programme began for the new students of Class-I. It was a bit different in nature.
Primary Edication Officer of Sherpur Md Tofazzal Hossain, children affairs officer of Sherpur Shishu Academy Fatema Begum, Lasmanpur UP chairman Sultan Ahmed, Sherpur area technical officer of the Grameen Shikkha Md Mosharraf Hossain, among others, attended the function.
President of the Kusumhati Govt Primary School managing committee Afsor Hossain presided over the function. Headmistress Sultana Razia conducted the programme.
At the beginning of the programme the new students of Class-I were received presenting them flowers. Race competition, art and rhyme-song contests were arranged for them. In total 15 students were awarded for winning the contests. Beside this, every new student was presented with a pen.
District primary education officer in his speech said, I would like to thank the Grameen Shikkha for arranging such an exceptional function. In such a way the students took part in various competitions that will help them flourish physically and psychologically. He expressed his willingness to extend hands of cooperation to such any future events. Fatema Begum said, Today’s child is the future of tomorrow. Such programmes will help them grow properly.
UP chairman Sultan Ahmed said: He will help any step for the betterment of children in his area. He also thanked the Grameen Shikkha for arranging such a programme. Mr Mosharraf Hossain said: The Grameen Shikkha has been arranging such programmes for the children since 2007. Through this programme near about 10 thousand children have successfully completed the pre-primary education and entered the primary schools. It helped develop the standard of education a lot, he added. He further said that due to such programmes dropout of students has also reduced. Realizing those the Grameen Shikkha has been continuing with its child oriented programmes, he informed.
